Terms and Conditions

These Terms and Conditions (“Terms”) govern access to and use of Frode (the “app”), operated by Happy Path Development LLC (“we,” “us,” “our”). By creating an account or using Frode, you agree to these Terms.

1. The Service

Frode is a household meal-planning application that lets you save recipes, plan meals against nutrition targets, and generate shopping lists. Access is currently invite-only and closed; accounts are created through an invitation from an existing household or from us directly, not through public signup.

We may change, suspend, or discontinue any part of the app at any time, including during this closed phase, without obligation to provide notice. Frode is provided as a personal/small-scale project and is not guaranteed to be continuously available.

2. Accounts and Households

An account belongs to a household, which may have one or more members sharing recipes, meal plans, and macro targets. Whoever creates a household is responsible for who they invite into it, since inviting someone gives them access to that household's shared data.

You're responsible for keeping your login credentials secure and for activity that happens under your account.

3. Your Content

You retain ownership of the recipes, meal plans, and other content you create or upload (“Your Content”). By uploading or saving content, you grant us the limited right to store and process it solely to provide the app's functionality to you and your household, and, for recipes you make public, as described below.

You're responsible for having the right to submit what you submit. For a recipe imported from a link, we store the link, its ingredients and nutrition information, and an AI-reworded version of its instructions (not the original page's text). For a recipe you upload as a PDF or enter manually, you're responsible for ensuring you have the right to store and use that content (for example, a personal or family recipe, or one you're otherwise permitted to keep a copy of).

Public recipes. If you make a recipe public, you grant us and other Frode users a non-exclusive, royalty-free license to view it in the app and copy it into their own libraries. Copies other households have already made stay in their libraries if the recipe is later made private or deleted. Public recipes are checked automatically before they're shared, and we may make one private or remove it at our discretion.

Only make public recipes you wrote or have put in your own words. A list of ingredients and quantities is fine to share, but the written instructions, descriptions, and photos in cookbooks, on websites, or from other people belong to their authors, so don't copy them into a public recipe. If you believe a public recipe on Frode copies your work, email us at hello@myfrode.com with the recipe's title and we'll review it and remove it if it infringes.

We may remove content that we believe violates these Terms or infringes someone else's rights.

4. Subscriptions and Billing

Frode's paid plan is a subscription per household, billed monthly or annually through our payment processor, Stripe, at the price shown when you subscribe. Only the household owner can start or manage the subscription, and it covers every member of the household.

Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing period until cancelled. You can cancel at any time from your profile (Manage billing). Cancellation takes effect immediately, and the unused portion of your current billing period is refunded to your original payment method.

If a subscription is cancelled or a payment fails, your household moves to the free tier: your existing recipes and meal plans stay viewable, but creating and editing them requires an active subscription. If we offer a free trial, its length and what it includes are shown when you sign up, and it never turns into a paid subscription without you choosing to subscribe.

If the household owner transfers ownership or deletes their account, their subscription is cancelled and the unused time refunded as above; the new owner can then start their own subscription. If we change the price, we'll tell current subscribers before the new price applies to them.

5. AI-Derived Content and Nutrition Disclaimer

Frode uses AI to extract information (such as servings, ingredients, and macro/nutrition estimates) from recipe links and uploaded PDFs, to reword recipe instructions, and to check recipes before they're shared publicly. This extracted data, including all macro and calorie information, is an estimate and may be inaccurate. You're responsible for reviewing and confirming any AI-derived data before relying on it.

Frode is not a substitute for professional medical, nutritional, or dietary advice. Nothing in the app constitutes advice from a nutritionist, dietitian, or medical professional, whether or not the app includes a feature for connecting with one. If you have specific dietary needs, allergies, or medical conditions, consult a qualified professional before making decisions based on information in this app.

6. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

• Use the app for any unlawful purpose.
• Attempt to access another household's data without authorization.
• Upload content that infringes someone else's intellectual property rights or that you don't have the right to store.
• Make public anything that isn't a genuine recipe, including spam or offensive content.
• Use automated tools to access the app, or get around usage limits, access restrictions, or subscription requirements.
• Attempt to disrupt, reverse-engineer, or interfere with the app's operation.

7. Disclaimers

The app is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including warranties of accuracy, reliability, or fitness for a particular purpose. We do not guarantee that the app will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that any nutrition or recipe data (including AI-derived data) will be accurate or complete.

8. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Happy Path Development LLC is not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the app, including but not limited to any health, dietary, or nutritional outcome resulting from reliance on information in the app. Your use of any recipe, macro estimate, or meal plan is at your own discretion and risk.

9. Termination

We may suspend or terminate your access to the app at any time, for any reason, including if we believe you've violated these Terms. You may stop using the app and delete your account from your profile page at any time. See our Privacy Policy for how we handle your data upon deletion.

10. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. If changes are significant, we'll make reasonable efforts to notify active users. Continued use of the app after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

11. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of North Carolina, without regard to conflict-of-law principles.
